OUR PHILOSOPHY
The beliefs that guide
everything we do.
Our philosophy reflects the values and beliefs that guide our relationships, environments, teaching and learning at Lakeview. It shapes the way we see children, the experiences we create and the relationships we build with families and community.
Children are capable, curious and deserving of environments, relationships and experiences that allow them to grow, discover and belong.
OUR BELIEFS IN PRACTICE
Five ideas that shape everyday life at Lakeview.
These beliefs guide the way we create environments, build relationships and support every child’s learning.
EXPLORATORY PLAY
Time to wonder, test ideas and discover.
The importance of unhurried exploratory play is valued and appreciated for its potential to inspire, challenge and stimulate children, encourage appropriate risk-taking and allow each child to develop at their own pace.
HOMELY ENVIRONMENT
A welcoming place where children feel they belong.
We take inspiration from Reggio Emilia by creating a welcoming, bespoke home away from home, where children and their families feel safe, secure and supported. We embrace nature’s beauty and ability to reduce stress and increase wellbeing, embedding sustainable practices into our daily routine to protect the environment for future generations.
CHILDREN, FAMILIES & COMMUNITY
Relationships built on belonging, respect and connection.
Nurturing and supportive educators embrace every child and their families individually, working together to provide positive interactions where children’s voices are heard and respected. This is further strengthened by meaningful community connections and collaborations.
INDIGENOUS CULTURE
Learning through respect, connection and culture.
We acknowledge, respect and celebrate the traditional owners of the land on which we learn and play, while continuing to build relationships with our local Indigenous community and increasing our knowledge of First Nations cultures.
EDUCATORS
Knowledge, care and passion brought together.
Our nurturing educators bring a variety of qualifications, skills, interests and beliefs. Together with effective communication, strong relationships and a genuine passion for early childhood education, these qualities help create meaningful learning experiences for every child.
Safe. Heard.
Respected.
Every child has the right to feel safe, respected, heard and protected.
At Lakeview, child safety and wellbeing are embedded in our culture, relationships and everyday practice. We create environments where children feel secure and confident to express themselves, where their voices are taken seriously and where educators remain attentive to each child's individual needs, behaviour and wellbeing.
Strong supervision, respectful interactions, safe environments, clear procedures and a shared responsibility for protecting children guide our practice. We also support children to develop confidence, recognise their own boundaries, communicate when something does not feel right and understand that they have adults around them who will listen and respond.
Our commitment to child safety is ongoing. We work in partnership with families, continually reflect on our practices and remain focused on creating a community in which every child feels they belong, they matter and they are safe.
OUR PHILOSOPHY IN PRACTICE
These beliefs live in the everyday.
From the environments we create to the relationships we build, our philosophy guides the choices we make for children every day.
