OUR COMMUNITY
Learning reaches
beyond our gates.
At Lakeview, we believe children learn about their world by being part of it. Our local community provides opportunities to explore real places, meet familiar people and experience everyday life beyond the preschool environment.
Through local visits, excursions and ongoing community connections, children build confidence, curiosity and a growing understanding of the people and places around them.
Primbee Post Office
CONNECTED TO OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD
Our community becomes
part of the classroom.
Being part of a community means more than simply knowing where places are. Children learn through meeting the people who work there, asking questions, observing what happens and experiencing everyday community life for themselves.
Visits to places such as Primbee Post Office allow children to connect what they see in their own lives with their learning at Lakeview. A simple local excursion can spark conversations about communication, occupations, transport, addresses, families and the many people who help a community function.
These experiences also help children build confidence as they explore the world beyond Lakeview alongside trusted educators and friends.
FAMILIAR PLACES, MEANINGFUL LEARNING
Discovering the community
around us.
Some of the richest learning opportunities can be found in the ordinary places children see around them every day.
Rosy Lea Café
Connecting with local people
A visit to Rosy Lea Café gives children an opportunity to experience a familiar local business from a new perspective. They can observe the people, routines and interactions that make everyday community spaces work.
Primbee soccer fields
Exploring shared spaces
Our local sporting fields provide opportunities for movement, exploration and conversations about recreation, teamwork and the shared spaces that bring people together within a community.
By visiting familiar places and making connections with the people within them, children begin to see their neighbourhood differently. It becomes not just somewhere they live, but somewhere they can participate, contribute and feel connected.
OUR LOCAL SCHOOL CONNECTION
Growing connections
with Primbee Public School.
Our relationship with Primbee Public School provides children with valuable opportunities to become familiar with a school environment before they begin their own transition to primary school.
Through visits and shared experiences, children can explore school spaces, meet teachers and participate in experiences within the school community. These opportunities help school become increasingly familiar rather than something completely unknown waiting at the end of preschool.
Just as importantly, our connection with Primbee Public School forms part of Lakeview's broader relationship with our local community. Children begin to recognise that preschool, school, local businesses, recreational spaces and the people within them are all connected parts of the community in which they are growing up.
A SENSE OF PLACE
Growing up connected
to community.
Community experiences give children something that cannot always be recreated within the preschool gates — the opportunity to participate in the real world around them.
Each visit, conversation and shared experience helps children build knowledge of their neighbourhood, confidence in new situations and relationships with people beyond their immediate preschool environment.
For us, community connection isn't an occasional addition to the program. It's part of helping children understand where they belong, how their world works and the part they can play within it.
