At Lakeview, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are embedded within our everyday learning, helping children develop respect for Country, culture and the histories and knowledge of Australia’s First Nations peoples.

Culture is woven into everyday learning.
Our connection to Country is not limited to particular events or celebrations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are respectfully embedded throughout children's everyday experiences at Lakeview.
Children build their understanding through Acknowledgement of Country, local Dharawal language, stories and books, creative experiences and opportunities to learn with the natural environment.
These experiences encourage children to develop respect, curiosity and an understanding that Aboriginal cultures, histories and knowledge are a living and important part of the community in which they are growing.

our understanding.
Our commitment to reconciliation is reflected in everyday life at Lakeview and in the relationships we continue to build with Aboriginal community, culture and Country. Through shared experiences, stories and conversations, children learn to listen to different perspectives and deepen their respect for Country, culture and community.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) guides our ongoing reflection, learning and actions, helping us embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives meaningfully across our program, environments and practices.
Our connection with Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation strengthens children's connection with local Aboriginal community, stories and culture.
Dreaming stories also hold a special place in our graduation tradition. Each year, children engage with a relevant Dreaming story and every graduating child receives a copy to take home and share with their family.
Gurangatti is one of the stories that has been shared as part of this tradition, connecting children's learning with local culture and an important milestone in their Lakeview journey.
Reconciliation at Lakeview is an ongoing commitment — built through relationships, reflection and meaningful experiences throughout the year.
