At Lakeview, we create rich and engaging environments that invite children to follow their interests, make choices and become active participants in their own learning. Through our Children's Council, children also have opportunities to contribute ideas and influence decisions within the wider Lakeview community.
Our approach is also influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which recognises children as capable, curious and full of ideas. We see the environment as an important part of the learning process, thoughtfully creating spaces and providing materials that invite exploration, collaboration, creativity and discovery.

Through hands-on experiences with light, movement, construction, nature, technology, measurement and cause and effect, we create opportunities for children to investigate their ideas, make predictions and discover new possibilities.
LANGUAGE, STORIES & COMMUNICATION

Language and literacy develop through connection, conversation and meaningful experiences. From babies listening to songs and stories to older children recognising their names, exploring print, creating stories and beginning to experiment with writing, these skills grow gradually throughout a child's time at Lakeview.
Books are part of everyday life, but literacy extends well beyond reading together. Children encounter language through music, dramatic play, mark-making, drawing, storytelling, signs, symbols and conversations with educators and friends.
Our educators notice where each child is in their development and create opportunities that build vocabulary, communication, confidence and an enjoyment of language — providing strong foundations for later reading and writing without rushing children into formal learning.
